2010 Aragon MotoGP FP2 Result - Stoner Leads In The Rain

The rain continues to fall in Aragon, but at least the MotoGP class had a full session in wet conditions, rather than the intermittent rain that appeared for Moto2. The wet weather saw Casey Stoner make a return to the top of the timesheets, the Marlboro Ducati rider ending FP2 over half a second faster than his nearest rival. That rival was Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, the current championship leader fast in both wet and dry conditions, setting the 2nd fastest time of the afternoon.
The other rider who as fast in both sessions was Casey Stoner's teammate, Nicky Hayden. Hayden ended the afternoon in 3rd, seven tenths behind Stoner and nearly half a second ahead of 4th-place man Valentino Rossi. Rossi heads up a bevy of Hondas, with surprise package Marco Melandri at their head. Since signing for the Sterilgarda Yamaha World Superbike team, Melandri has recovered his form, the San Carlo Gresini Honda rider fast in both morning and afternoon sessions at Aragon.
Fastest rider of the morning, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, struggled in the rain, something he hasn't done for a number of years. Pedrosa ended the session down in 13th, over three and a half seconds behind Stoner. But with better weather forecast for the rest of the weekend, and the race almost certain to be dry, Pedrosa's wet-weather form may be irrelevant.
